Located in the heart of The Valley of Enchantment (Wappo Indian territory) now known as the Sonoma Valley. Hidden away off the highway in Kenwood, California. Renowned for its peace and tranquility, and heavenly beauty surrounded by mountains - Kenwood is the last remaining hamlet in the Valley to retain its soul. Enjoy its special and intimate wine tasting rooms and delightful restaurants. At night, where there is no street lighting, you can thrill to the starry skies and the sounds of nature calling.

Step back in time and relax in the gardens or explore the untouched 1.3 acres of trees and brambles known as Rip Van Winkle's Playpen.

Monks Orchard, with its combination of high ivy-with-rose and redwood fencing, at the corner of the foot of Laurel Avenue and Frederica, offers a tranquil private haven to the traveler to rest. Enjoy your stay in this tartan painted*, rustic ranch style house filled with eclectic antiques and art.

The house lies snug in the corner, leaving the Orchard a visual treat of 100 foot high poplar, walnut, fig, olive, peach and plum trees along with blackcurrant bushes. Wine and dine under the covered patio or under the shady walnut trees, or soak in the hot tub under the wine arbour, or pick the wild berries. Or just relax in the fleur de lys gazebo.

Coming shortly will be a tree-top playpen.

There are four bedrooms to choose from: the master bedroom overlooks the orchard and has a separate entrance with direct access to the patio and other amenities, and private bath. Other rooms include the toile de Jouey four poster bedroom; the rich dark rustic corner bedroom; and the Scottish Family bedroom - with its double bed and and antique single bed.

The kitchen and dining area are airy and open and awaiting your culinary explorations.

The owner is of mixed American and Scottish descent and is a direct descendent of The Reverend John Witherspoon from East Lothian, Scotland, signer of The Declaration of Independence and first President of Princeton University.
